Control your wood or charcoal BBQ with the optional Drive fan control system. Easily power any 12v fan to maintain a steady temperature. Also features lid-open detection.
FireBoard Standard Kit

Accuracy

We wanted to make sure our design provided accurate and reliable temperature readings. This requires two things: a solid circuit design; and robust and accurate temperature probes. FireBoard has both.

Wifi + Bluetooth

FireBoard is also a Bluetooth thermometer. If you don’t have WiFi, you can still use it conveniently within Bluetooth range.

Battery Powered

The FireBoard has a Li-Ion rechargeable battery that can run for over 24 hours. No need to connect a power supply.

We strive to provide a high quality product. We also stand by our product and to that end, we have extended our initial six (6) month warranty period to twelve (12) months on the FireBoard Thermometer (“Product”).

This warranty ensures that the Product is free from defects and workmanship. If the Product fails to conform to this Limited Warranty, FireBoard will repair or replace the unit at its own expense.

Of course, as with any warranty, certain situations are not covered under our warranty. These situations include but are not limited to: modifications, use outside rated specifications, and general abuse/misuse. FireBoard reserves the right to inspect equipment before resolving any warranty claims.

All FireBoard temperature probes are covered by a six (6) month warranty period. Due to the extreme conditions most of the temperature probes perform in, it naturally becomes difficult to extend a longer warranty. The same limitations apply to the six (6) month warranty with respect to probe misuse or outside FireBoard’s probe specifications.

It should also be noted that this warranty only applies to FireBoard equipment purchased directly from us or one of our authorized dealers.

If the equipment is under warranty, we will inspect the equipment and determine the nature of the issue. If the repairs are under warranty, we will repair or replace the equipment free of charge and send it back to you in a timely manner. Remember, probes include a six month warranty and the FireBoard unit and accessories include a one year warranty.

We strive to make all repairs in a timely manner. We also aim to price any repairs that are outside the scope of warranty work as reasonably as possible in an effort to support our customers.

FAQS

The standard thermistor probes and cables that come with the FireBoard are rated from -18° to 300°C (0°F to 572°F).

The K-type thermocouples supplied with the FireBoard 2 Pro are able to withstand extreme temperatures of up to 760°C (1400°F).

The FireBoard unit itself is rated to 60°C (140°F) but in our laboratory testing, we believe the device should withstand temperatures in excess of this rating. Despite those tests, certain components used within the FireBoard are only rated up to 60°C (140°F).

Absolutely! The thermistor temperature probes are rated up to 300°C (572°F), which should be satisfactory for most cooks on a grill. Temperatures inside of some grills may exceed the probe ratings, especially over a direct flame, so please use caution as you approach those higher temperatures.

Yes, the FireBoard also works over Bluetooth (direct to phone).

The FireBoard should take between 4 – 6 hours to charge. The charging and power behavior of the FBX11 is similar to a cell phone, where the device can be powered from USB and also recharge at the same time. The device will automatically turn on when it is plugged into USB Power.

The FireBoard’s Li-Ion rechargeable battery should last approximately 24hours.

The FireBoard utilizes a Bluetooth 4.0 (Bluetooth Low Energy) Profile to communicate between the mobile app and the FireBoard. With a BLE connection, the pairing process where you entered a passcode is not needed anymore. The mobile app should automatically scan and find FireBoard devices via BLE. If you run into issues with discovering devices, in the worst case, you can force close the app, turn your Bluetooth on/off (e.g. airplane mode) and the try to connect again.

Yes, the FireBoard 2 series models (FBX2, FBX2D, FBX2K) are all weather resistant, but not waterproof. The technical definition of water resistant is that it is able to resist the penetration of water to a certain degree, but not entirely.

The FireBoard 1 (FBX11) unit itself is not weather resistant; while it does perform well in many conditions, if you anticipate rain or heavy moisture we recommend the FireBoard Case.

Yes — Our manufacturer for the probes confirms they are waterproof, and our testing so far supports this claim. Although, we do not recommend submerging the probes for a long period of time.
Yes, the ambient probes have an identical plug (2.5mm audio plug) on the end, so you can mix and match ambient / food probes however you would like. There are identical sensors inside so they work exactly the same way.
They are 1.8m (6ft) long.

No the FireBoard 2 Drive & Pro have built in Drive technology, so they can power a fan directly via the 2.5mm port.

Yes! Every FireBoard (all models) has a built in aux port and the Drive Cable can be used to power a fan.

Not at the moment, but this might be a feature developed in the future via an OTA firmware update.

Yes, the USB-C port is PD (Power Delivery) enabled which means it can shift into a 12V power input, providing plenty of power to run the fan at 100% and also keep the FireBoard 2 running and charged for longer cooks.

The Pro model will be using Type K Thermocouple probes, which provide several key advantages. Type K probes are robust and heavy duty, perfect for rugged use. The connector is also very strong, providing a stable pathway for reading temperature from the probe. Thermocouples can read high temperatures, far higher than thermistors, which is ideal for pizza ovens, wood stoves, or general cooking at higher temperatures. Since Type K Thermocouples are standardized, any Type K probe can work with FireBoard 2 Pro.
